Hi, thanks for stopping by my site. I first picked up a camera in a high school photo class and was immediately captivated by the process, especially when I saw that first print emerge in the darkroom.
I studied photography in college and along the way also became a professional rock climber. Combining these pursuits I have published images in climbing books, magazine articles and advertisements. I have also authored several climbing guidebooks and many magazine articles. As a bit of trivia I have appeared in print ads and on TV spots, as well as guided celebrities on climbing excursions. I'm also an avid cyclist, riding both road and mtn bikes and also have surfed since I was a little kid. I've been shooting for over twenty years. Located in Southern California, I have had shot weddings from San Diego to San Francisco, Lake Tahoe to Death Valley and am also available for your destination wedding plans where ever they may be.
During my climbing career I established hundreds of first ascents, meaning I established new routes up a cliff that had never been climbed before. For me photographing a wedding is like climbing a first ascent. You may think, “How can climbing be anything like wedding photography?”, let me explain. When you get to the cliff, you have all your gear, skills, knowledge, experience etc. and you know that you will be climbing. However, you don't know exactly what gear you'll use, which decisions you will make, or how things will unfold. Unexpected circumstances may arise, but the goal is to successfully complete the process and to have a lot of fun along the way!
I think it is the same with photographing a wedding; you know what you'll be doing, but every wedding (and couple) are completely different. There too you call on your experience, have all the tools at your disposal and use them according to how the day unfolds, how the light affects the location, how the emotions effects those present, and the many other details of the day. Creativity is the catalyst that brings it all together.
I am very fortunate to make a living being myself and doing what I love.
Thanks again for visiting my site I hope you enjoy the images and come back often, my blog (coming soon) will be updated frequently with new work!
